AEROGARDEN ® : Common AeroGarden Mistakes
The word Aero has been around for a long, long time. It comes from the Greek root "āer" which means air. Unfortunately it is often a difficult word for those not familiar with it to spell. As a result, there are often misspelling that exist when the root is combined with other words, as in "Aero Garden". We have had several customers contact us after much wasted effort searching for misspellings like Areo Garden, or Aro Garden, when they really needed to be looking for the combined word "AeroGarden".
Aero Garden : Where the name came from
There is no doubt that the Aero Garden or AeroGarden was appropriately named when considering the root "Aero" combined with "Garden". The combination of Aero Garden implies that it is an "air" garden. While partially true, the Aero Garden wouldn't work if it only used "air". If a more literal name was needed for the Aero Garden, we suppose they could have used something like the "AeroHydroGarden" and although that would appropriately indicate the technology used in the Aero Garden (a combination of air and water) it obviously wouldn't sit well with customers, who would no doubt have even more difficulty spelling the product correctly.
Aero Garden or AeroGarden?
Technically and grammatically the two words "Aero" and "Garden" should be separated, however this rule is often ignored when it comes to naming products. For marketing purposes, it is much easier to create logos and brands from a single word or name (ex: AeroGarden instead of Aero Garden) than with 2 separate words. In addition, it is helpful to simplify the product name when customers search for it online.
The bottom line is that it really doesn't matter whether or not the two words are separate, or where the Aero Garden or AeroGarden gets its name. The fact is that the Aero Garden, or if you prefer "AeroGarden" is undoubtedly the easiest and most successful indoor gardening product available today. |
